- Thank you for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks route gpx download which I took last week. We took the slightly longer "National Park" recommended route coming off Pen-y-Ghent but had a great day. Thanks Paul (g4obk)

- I went the old route off Pen y ghent , its my 4th complication , took 10 hours 55 mins on a scorching day .... sank into a bog up to my thighs , think I'll do the new route next time lol

- Go after a dry spell. This route can be very boggy, especially the leg connecting Whernside to Pen-y-ghent. Stick to the paths shown on this route because many of the other routes shown on the OS map are very difficult to read on the ground, especially in summer when the bracken has 'flourished'. I wasn't sure I could walk the full 24 miles of the route and so took my bike and parked at Ribblehead. That way, one can walk up Ingleborough and Whernside (16 miles), return to the car to collect the bike and then cycle down to Horton to take on Pen-y-ghent (12 mile return trip on the bike). I completed this route (28 miles in total) in 10 hours 55 minutes. This challenge is hard on the feet and ankles but not as demanding on stamina as the National 3-peaks Challenge which I completed at the end of June. Good luck to all who do this walk.
