- A brief scurry with L from Heaves Farm in a let up after a horrible windy wet morning whilst going to meet brother and family and a visit to the Cumbria Animal Rescue Centre near Kendal. To the south lies Levens Hall - a fine Elizabethan mansion renowned for the finest, oldest and most extensive topiary garden in the world. There are over 100 hedges here, each clipped to an unusual and individual design. To the north lies Sizergh Castle – a beautiful medieval house, with fine furniture and carvings and whose grounds includes a pond, lake, a national collection of hardy ferns and a superb limestone rock garden.
