  • Visited sometime in the early 1990s. The Tower was built in 1798 by Sir William Ashurst to provide warning of a possible Napoleonic Invasion. It was part of a relay of beacons stretching across Lancashire from Liverpool to Lancaster, that dated back to the 16th Century
