- Dawn ascent at 5am in summer (cold wind-grey clouds above) Gate from minor road top up grassy ridge -one wire fence easy to stride over -views of an empty A6 where my grandad used to drive lorries over in the 60s with tales of heroic / epic journeys in winter taking beer from Blackburn to West Cumbria
