Beinn a' Bheithir
Track log from an ascent of the 2 Munros on this mountain near Ballachulish. Start point is the car park adjacent to the Visitor Info centre in Ballachulish. Ascent of Sgorr Dhearg is via the NE ridge of Sgorr Bhan - some easy scrambling near the top of the ridge. From Sgorr Bhan it is a very nice high level ridge walk over Sgorr Dhearg and Sgorr Dhonuill. The return included a walk out over the ridge on the west side of Gleann a' Chaolais to Creag Ghorm. This ridge is crossed by numerous ridges and depressions and could possibly be quite confusing if done in poor visibility. The descent north off Creag Ghorm is down steep grassy slopes with a few crags to avoid before picking up the forrest road about the 300m contour. Distance 21km, Ascent approx 1700m, Time 8 hrs 20mins.
