- - and what a battle I had to find it going all around and between houses in the dark. At one point I was in a wrong field with two shadowy horses in the moonlight (ghosts from 1066?).I had assumed a famous hill where Harold gathered before The Battle would be well signed and obvious. Even the windmill was hidden until I was upon it. Info boards were frozen over on this cold winters night with snow lying crisp and even. Time Team on You Tube has a interesting take on the possible actual location of the battle and where Harold fell (now a mini- roundabout!)
